Speaker Series: Bizarre History of the McDowells

The McDowell Mountains contain a peculiar past of plane crashes, ghosts, murders and wildfires. Join Len Marcisz, a legacy steward with the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, to learn about the impact of southwestern military, mining, ranching, urbanization and preservation activities on the natural resources of the area. Light bites and beverages provided. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., speaker begins at 6 p.m.

About the Speaker:

Len Marcisz isĀ Former President & Chairman of the Board of the Arizona Historical Society. He is a Legacy Steward for the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and a contributing author for the Field Guide to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and the Cultural Guide to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. His articles regarding the history of the McDowell Mountains have appeared in several local periodicals and have been referenced in archeological and historical studies. He shares information about the region in a style that is both entertaining and informative.
